Ultrasonic Testing Level 3
As a non-destructive testing (NDT) method, you can use Ultrasonic Testing (UT) to detect defects inside materials. While using acoustic waves capable of propagating through a material and being reflected on its boundary, this method employs test sets and various probes.
Personnel who perform this method must be qualified and appropriately certified through a well-documented training and examination program.
Is it for me?
Ultrasonic Testing Level 3 is ideal for you if:
- You already understand ultrasonic inspection techniques well and would like to improve your knowledge and experience in preparation for a Level 3 examination.
- You are NDT personnel, inspector, or technician engaged in, or responsible for inspection of weldments, castings, forgings, or fabricated items during manufacture or in-service in different product sectors.
- Or, if You are an aerospace industry personnel.
Ultrasonic Testing (UT) is one of only two BS EN ISO 9712 inspection techniques considered volumetric, meaning that the entire component body undergoes testing.
What will I learn?
Within the scope of the competence defined on the certificate, Ultrasonic Testing Level 3 personnel may be authorized to:
- Assume full responsibility for the test facility or examination center and staff.
- Establish, review for editorial and technical correctness, and validate Ultrasonic Testing instructions and procedures
- Interpret codes, standards, specifications, and procedures
- Designate the particular Ultrasonic test methods, techniques, and procedures to be used
- Within the scope and limitations of any certification held, carry out all tasks at all levels
- Provide guidance for Ultrasonic Testing personnel at all levels
- Using mainly portable equipment and without associated safety considerations, i.e., radiation/vapors, it may be employed in hazardous, on-site, and even underwater environments.
